Ohio Casualty Insurance

Ohio casualty insurance company is a regional insurance company based in Fairfield Ohio.  Founded in 1909 they offer property and casualty products, including car and home insurance in Ohio, and business insurance to small businesses.  They have a strong financial stabilty rating, so that should  not be a conecrn if you are getting quotes from them.

In addition to Ohio, Ohio Casualty insurance offers their insurance products to people and business owners in Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.  They sell through independent agents in these states.  In 2007 they were acquired by the Liberty Mutual insurance group.  Liberty Mutual is among the top 5 insurer groups in the US and use captive, or exclusive, agents to sell their products.  Ohio Casualty helps Liberty gain a new marketing channel because their captive agents can only sell Liberty products.  Auto insurance in Ohio is competitive, and it’s advantageous for them to expand their marketing reach by using the services of independent agents.

Ohio Casualty insurance company does not offer health or Ohio life insurance.  They are known to be a competively priced insurance company for preferred drivers, homeowners and business owners.  They do not offer high risk auto insurance however.  There is speculation that the name Ohio Casualty Insurance will  not be used in the future.  This is because Liberty Mutual acquired Safeco Insurance Company, another insurer that distributes home and car insurance through independent agents.  Safeco has more brand recognition outside of Ohio, so if you’re a client of Ohio Casualty, you may soon see the name Safeco on your Ohio insurance policy.
